Schoology Login: Student, Parent & Teacher Access

There is one general Schoology sign-in page, but most students and teachers log in through their own school's Schoology address or district portal, and parents usually have a separate parent account. Pick your role to see which route is yours, or go straight to the official page.

How to log in to Schoology: quick steps

The exact screens depend on your school, but the order is the same everywhere.

  1. Find your school's route. Use the finder above, your school's website, or ask your teacher.
  2. Open the official page. That is your school's Schoology address, your district portal, or app.schoology.com/login. Check the address bar before you type anything.
  3. Pick the sign-in option your school uses. On the official page you will see three choices: email or username with a password, SSO Login (search for your school), or Scan QR Code.
  4. Finish signing in on the official site. If your school uses Google or Microsoft, you will be sent to that sign-in screen. Choose your school account.
  5. Still stuck? Contact your school. Only your school can create accounts, unlock them or reset school-managed passwords. Our troubleshooting guide covers what you can fix yourself first.

Sign-in methods your school may use

Your school decides which method you use. You can't switch to a different one on your own, and not every school offers all of them.

Can't log in? Try these quick fixes

Most problems come from using the wrong page or the wrong account. Try these first.

  1. Check you are on the right page. Students and staff usually need their school's address or SSO Login, not the email and password boxes.
  2. Check which Google or Microsoft account is signed in. A personal account in the same browser is the most common cause of sign-in loops. Try a private window.
  3. Reset the right password. Forgot your password only works for accounts with their own Schoology password and an email on file. School accounts are reset by the school.
  4. Make sure cookies and JavaScript are on. PowerSchool lists both as requirements for Schoology.
  5. Try the browser instead of the app (or the other way round). Some districts recommend one over the other.

Only your school can fix these: an account that was never created, has been turned off or is locked; a missing course; or a school-managed password. Our full login help guide explains what to send your school's help desk.

What is Schoology?

Schoology, now sold as Schoology Learning, is a learning management system (LMS) owned by PowerSchool. Schools use it to share course materials, collect assignments, run quizzes and discussions, post grades and send messages. Families can often follow along through a parent account.

What you can do in Schoology depends on how your school sets it up. Some schools use every feature, others only a few. In many districts, Schoology grades are not the official record; those live in the district's student information system.

Since October 1, 2023, Schoology has been offered only to schools and other organizations. Individual "Basic" accounts no longer work, so every account now comes through a school.

Frequently asked questions

How do I log in to Schoology?

Use the sign-in route your school set up. Most students and staff open their school's own Schoology address (for example yourdistrict.schoology.com) or a district portal such as Clever or ClassLink. You can also go to the official page at app.schoology.com/login and choose SSO Login to search for your school. Parents with their own parent account sign in on that same official page with their email or username. See the student, parent and teacher guides for details.

Is Schoology a student portal?

Not exactly. Schoology is a learning management system (LMS): the place where teachers post courses, assignments, materials and messages. Many districts also have a separate student or parent portal (a student information system, or SIS) that holds official grades, attendance and schedules. Some districts link the two, so you may open Schoology from inside your district's portal.

Can I log in to Schoology with Google?

Only if your school set up Google sign-in. In that case, start from your school's Schoology address or the SSO Login option, then choose your school Google account. Typing a personal Gmail address into the email and password boxes will not work for a school-managed account. Read more in our Google, Microsoft and SSO guide.

Why does my school use a different login page?

Schools and districts buy Schoology for their own organization and connect it to their own accounts. Many give their Schoology site its own web address and send students through the district's sign-in page, so you use one school password for several apps. That is normal, and the school's page is the right one to use.

Is SchoologyLogin.com the official Schoology website?

No. SchoologyLogin.com is an independent guide. We are not part of PowerSchool, Schoology or any school district, we have no access to your account, and we never ask for your password. The official sign-in page is app.schoology.com/login; your school may give you a different official address.
